Employment
Employment for persons with disabilities is a service area embraced by the Charles Lea Center. Helping people to obtain and sustain employment is achieved by using transformative best practices, technology and soft skills training that increases independence and inclusion in the workplace. Programs are designed to increase skill acquisition in problem solving, task completion, safety, self-determination, and self-advocacy.
The Charles Lea Center operates diverse employment programs designed to address the unique needs of job seekers.
The Career Start was developed to provide hands on training using technology with self-paced employment curriculums.
Group Employment
Group employment programs are in community businesses where employees work on site alongside a Charles Lea Center supervisor. Employees earn at least minimum wage and are immersed in the culture of the business while completing meaningful work.
Individual employment programs assist job seekers to obtain a job in their community. They are hired on by the business and are provided time limited supports by a Charles Lea Center staff to acclimate to the culture, responsibilities and expectations of the business.
Work Training Center
The Work Training Center affords adults with disabilities the opportunity to learn basic preemployment skills.
